Bed and Body Pillows
General Care
We highly recommend routinely airing out your Kakun bed and body pillows on a bright and breezy day; allowing the fresh air and sun's rays to naturally clean, sanitize, refresh and revive.
All Natural Pillow Fill
All Kakūn pillows have inherently breathable and thermal-regulating properties, making the need for washing greatly reduced.
However, when washing is required, we advise to clean just the inner and outer pillow casings, rather than the pillow fill itself
Shredded Latex:
- Do not wash shredded latex.
- Do not expose to direct sunlight or heat source.
Wool:
- Do not machine wash.
- If needed, spot clean gently with cold water and mild soap.
- Always avoid washing wool in hot water, as this will cause shrinkage.
Organic Cotton Casings
Every Kakūn bed and body pillow comes with both an inner and outer casing; both of which are machine washable.
Here are a few tips:
- Avoid washing your organic cotton in hot water and drying it at a high temperature (the heat breaks down the fibers and shortens the life of your product)
- Cold to warm water is best, on a delicate cycle
- Tumble dry low or hang to dry
- Try sun bleaching your white cotton on a beautiful summer’s day!
Customizing Your Pillow
Our Kakun shredded latex pillows are fully adjustable and customizable to fit your unique comfort needs. Simply remove or add filling to achieve the perfect loft and support for your best night’s sleep. Watch this video to learn how easy it is to customize your pillow!
Mattresses
Cleaning and Mattress Refresh
Mattress Casing:
- We recommend routinely airing out your mattress casing on a beautifully sunny, preferably breezy, day, allowing both the wind and heat to naturally clean and refresh it's all natural materials.
- When needed, gentle spot cleaning with eco friendly soap is acceptable (make sure to air dry thoroughly before closing up the mattress).
- Treat tougher stains and soiling with vinegar and water solution.
- DO NOT machine wash.
Latex Mattress Layers:
- SPOT CLEAN ONLY. Unzip the cover of the mattress and gently dab the latex with an eco friendly soap and minimal water. Air dry completely before closing up the cover

Mattress Flipping
To maintain the life of your mattress, we recommend flipping and rotating the top two layers every 6 months.
If the top layer is soft latex we recommend this process be done seasonally.
Your Mattress Foundation
What should my mattress lay on?
All Kakun mattresses are to be supported by a mattress foundation.
- Consider laying your mattress on a slatted platform system, such as this one.
- To help further draw air through your mattress, promoting ventilation and inhibiting the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria in humid environments, consider also placing it on a coconut coir rug.
- Contact us to explore other possible options.
- DO NOT place your mattress directly on the floor. Mattresses need to breathe.
Mattress Toppers
General
- Flip and rotate your topper once per month
- Avoid exposing your topper to direct sunlight or any high heat source.
Cleaning and Refreshing
- We recommend sunning your all-wool topper periodically to refresh the fibers. Do not sun your topper if it contains latex.
- Spot clean only. When needed, gently spot clean with mild eco-friendly soap and minimal cold water. Treat tougher stains and soiling with vinegar and water solution. Air dry in a well-ventilated area.
- We recommend using a washable cotton or wool mattress protector to keep your topper clean

Sheets and Duvet Covers
Cotton Sheets and Duvets:
- Machine wash on the gentle or delicate cycle with like colours, with cold water and a natural, plant based laundry detergent. We don't recommend using whiteners, as bleaching agents may diminish the brilliance and depth of the colours; when needed, use only non-chlorine bleach. Line dry, or tumble dry low and remove promptly.
- Fabric softeners and dryer sheets reduce the absorbency of cotton textiles and are not recommended.
Linen Sheets and Duvets:
